We are the Kingfisher Class. We are Year 1 and 2 children and our teachers are Mrs McLean Teaching us from Monday - Thursday and Mrs Russell teaching us on a Friday. with Mrs Emery as our teaching assistant. We have lots of other volunteer helpers during the week too.
We work hard on our maths and literacy work in the mornings and focus on topic areas in the afternoon.
This term our class topic is ‘Animals and Habitats’, based around our science study of creatures found in our local area. We will be using our beautiful improved garden to search and log minibeasts before finding out about other types of animals, including amphibians, mammals and birds. There will be a literacy focus on Traction Man and we will be planning and writing our own adventures for him. We are looking forward to a whole school mini topic on Stravinsky’s Firebird, a well known piece of classical music and will be using drama, dance and art to inspire a special piece of extended writing. We look forward to a busy and exciting term!
Our classroom is an amazing space and we have lots of work and useful displays; it looks wonderful. We use our outdoor space as often as we can.
