Welcome to Swanton Abbott Community Primary School!
In September you may be starting your learning journey with us. We want the transition from Nursery to Reception to be a happy and exciting one - and enabling this is our priority.
At Swanton Abbott we are interested in what the children are interested in and aim to provide learning opportunities in ways that motivate and inspire. This may involve outside or inside learning, role play, imaginative play, independent or guided learning, creative and constructive or sensory play.....the list is long!
Due to this we are aiming to meet your children before September. This way we can get to know your children and, more importantly, they can get to know us and what their new learning environment is like!
During May 2021 Miss Brooks is keen to speak to parents about their child and starting school. Traditionally this would be through a home visit as it a great opportunity to see your child in a relaxed home setting and begin to get to know them (and they us) in a familiar environment. It is also a great time for you to ask those burning questions and share any worries! However, due to the current circumstances, we know that this is unlikely to be a feasible option. Therefore, we are keen to make contact either through a 'Garden Meeting,' i.e. outside in your home setting or we can communicate via Zoom or a phone call.
We will contact you to see if this is something you would like to do and arrange a suitable time.
We are aiming to have an Open Afternoon in June so you can come with your child and explore Swanton Abbott Community Primary School and what it has to offer.
In July we would like to invite your child to some transition afternoons where they can spend some time playing and learning in their new classroom with Miss Brooks and Miss Edgar.
All of these events are to support your child's move to school and begin their time at Swanton Abbott in a relaxed, confident and happy way. Obviously, all of these proposed events are dependent upon current Government and Department for Education Covid restrictions and guidelines.
We are looking forward to meeting you!
