Owls – Years 3 & 4
Welcome to Owls – your teachers for the year are Mrs Russell (Mon/Tues) and Mrs Wilson (Wed/Thur/Fri). We’re also delighted that Miss Harper (Mon/Tues/Wed) and Mrs Emery (Wed/Thur/Fri) will be joining us too. We are thrilled to be teaching you and are looking forward to all the exciting new topics in our subjects.
Things we need
P.E. kits and days
We will be doing 2 hours of P.E. each week, on a Wednesday and Thursday. It is important that you have suitable indoor and outdoor clothing. Please make sure all items are clearly named. On these days, please come in to school wearing your P.E. kit, as we no longer ask your child to get changed in school.
Homework
Learning at home is extremely important as it helps you to revise what you have learnt in school. It also helps you to be a confident and positive learner. This term, we expect you to learn your weekly spellings and number facts. These will be sent home on a Friday and checked in class on a Friday afternoon.
We also want you to read regularly at home, at least three times a week. This is really vital as you will be reading lots of new information in class and reading at home will help with your fluency and comprehension skills. Please write what you have read at home, including any non-school books. You adult should sign your reading record at least once a week.
Celebrating success
We are really looking forward to sharing your successes during Owl class. We want to celebrate your achievements from inside and outside of school, so please let us know what you have been up to – you could send us a Dojo so that the whole class can see and celebrate with you.
Rewards – praise, dojos for super learning behaviours and demonstrating school values, secret learner (for later in the term), Headteacher awards, Owl of the Week.
Parents/carers
As a team, we are always here for you. If you would like to discuss anything with us, please use our Dojo system to privately message us or call the school office to make an appointment to see us if you would rather, so that it is not a rushed conversation at the gate.
We thank you for your continued support and we very much look forward to welcoming you into Owls class. Please message us if there is anything else that you would like to know.
