Over the last few years, the staff and governors of the school have considered the kinds of skills and attributes that will enhance the success of our children in their future lives. We have talked about many areas, including co-operation, self-esteem, empathy and respect which form the basis of an economically and socially successful multi-cultural community. We have studied our own curriculum and ensured that all the values we hold dear, including those which we consider to be core British Values, such as equality, democracy, fair play, resilience and respect for others, are included in the school's ethos and activities, both curricular and extra-curricular, throughout the children's time with us.
Our links with the local community are strong. Our own PTFA work extremely hard to provide activities for children and parents to enjoy, often, but not always, raising money as a result. Volunteers, who may have no link with a child in the school, enjoy coming to support us, whether it be by playing the piano for our singing, working with children in our garden or supporting reading. The whole school community benefits enormously from this and we are always extremely grateful.
We carry out a good deal of work to support charities, too. Some of these charities have become known to us through children's and parents' own life experiences and we have been particularly happy to support these.
